GRASSROOTS INFORMATION SERVICE    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Nurten Ural, President ATAA Allison Block, Advocacy Director, ATAA Tel: 202.483.9090 E-mail: president@ataa.org   ATAA Attends TASSA Conference in Boston Boston, MA, April 15, 2008 - ATAA was pleased to show its support of TASSA, the Turkish American Scientists and Scholars Association, at its fourth annual convention "Innovation as Driver for Social Transformation and Economic Growth"  in Boston over the weekend.  ATAA President Nurten Ural, along with Executive Director Ayla Bakkalli, and Advocacy Director Allison Block attended the weekend conference, which consisted of panel discussions and presentations by many leaders from the Turkish, Turkish-American and American communities, including Mr. Kenan Sahin, founder of TIAX, LLC, Ms. Nuket Yetis, of TUBITAK, and former US Congressman Hochbreuckner.  The three day event reflected not only the collaborative exchange of intellectual ideas but also, the wonderful work that is being done to strengthen the relationship between the two communities. The Friday evening reception was dedicated to Mr. Yalcin Ayasli, a benevolent donor to many Turkish American causes, and himself the founder of a successful microwave (semi-conductor) company. On Saturday afternoon, Advocacy Director Allison Block was a presenter, alongside the President of the Turkish Coalition of America, Mr. Lincoln McCurdy, at a seminar titled "Innovations in Grassroots Politics." ATAA congratulates on a very informative, successful and well-attended convention and wishes the same for future conventions.     ABOUT US The objective of the Assembly is to coordinate the activities of member Turkish American associations and individual members of the Assembly for the purpose of presenting a more balanced view of Turkey and of the Turkish people, and emphasizing the importance of enhanced understanding between Turkey and the United States.
