Re: [Daughters_of_Ataturk] Barack Obama & Turks

Barack Obama and the Turks
Reading Vural Cengiz's article (Obama will be good for the Turks – and the world, Turkish Daily News, Feb 22, 2008) and many others like it, one wonders whether his conclusions reflect the truth. Obama Baraka is different but not so much from the others, such as the three senators who recently visited Turkey and put on the table only whatever is on their agenda that would serve their interest (Joseph Biden, et al. ) and with only words to comfort his Turkish counterparts, according to newspaper articles of the last two days.
It is very difficult to understand the Presidential election process in the US which in 2000 allowed President Bush to become the President through the still debated election results in Florida and which now precludes Florida and Michigan from sending delegates to the November 2008 elections. Where is the power of the people that Barack Obama has been talking about at every opportunity? The selection of delegates, winner take all procedures, super delegates and all that interesting confrontations and remarks during the past few days between the candidates makes one wonder who is the most qualified person to lead the world to a peaceful co-existence among all the nations and the people without the US ordering around as the super power and telling everyone what to do. Hillary Clinton knows Turkey and Turks and will certainly change her mind when she is told the facts on many issues, including the Armenian issue. But who is advising Hillary Clinton on the real issues and how many Turkish-Americans and Turks have written to her?
Barack Obama is charismatic, inspirational and all that, and he is for change, except in the most important foreign policy issue of Turkey, the Armenian issue. He brought up the mythical Armenian genocide voluntarily during a press conference and made all kinds of accusations against the Ottoman Government and the Turkish Republic, only perhaps because of what  Samantha Power, his advisor, told him. Therefore, a change on this issue on Barack Obama's mind is very unlikely, who has not responded or acknowledged any of over a dozen e-mails sent to him on this issue, probably because he and his people believe that they already know everything about the controversial issue. The latest e-mail to Barack Obama is given below for those who may be interested in the reconciliation on this issue, and perhaps writing to him and to his wife Michelle as well. Michelle Obama has some learning to do also, including the love of her country, not just because millions are supporting her husband now, but because of many other reasons. One thing, she should advise her husband that he should start wearing the American flag lapel pin again that he discarded some time ago. Yes, USA has had some not so good Presidents and Ambassadors, but this is the only country in the world that can give the opportunity to individuals like Obama Baraka to speak their mind and run for the highest office.
