[Daughters_of_Ataturk] $100 campaign and Update on Congressman Wexler's dinner event

Dear Friends and Members of Turkish American Community,

 

We are on the way to write a success story for Congressman Wexler. So far, we have raised $14,500 including pledges. As you well know presidential candidates are doing everything they can to raise money and one of their "hot topics" is "So-called Armenian genocide". It is very crucial for Turkish Americans to support every Congressman or Senator who believes in Turkey and is a good ally of Turkish Amaricans at this point.

 

We are delighted to see how Turkish Americans have united during this fundraising. Many of you have responded all over the country. Everybody whom we phoned responded positively to our message. We have a long list of donors in our "Thank you" list from every income level. We are grateful to each and every donor for her/his contribution.

 

Let's finish this event as a great success story and send a strong message from California to all of our opponents nation-wide. Turkish-Americans need to start raising their voices in the political arena, and this is a great opportunity to do so. We would like to achieve this by raising up to $20,000 as planned before. We are asking every member who hasn't pledged yet to pledge between $50-100 if possible.

 

The dinner event will be quite educational and inspirational. Congressman Wexler will talk about foreign policy and future strategies. He will answer questions regarding the presidential campaign as well as local elections. We also have another distinguished speaker, Mr. Lincoln McCurdy who is the current president of Turkish Coalition of America and TC-USA PAC. He will update us about the future political agenda for Turkish Americans and Turkish Caucus in the parliament.

Ilkcan Cokgor and Haluk Ulubay are organizing a dinner event for Congressman Robert Wexler on February 20th.  

 

Congressman Wexler is the co-founder and co-chairman of the Congressional Turkish Caucus and a strong supporter of US-Turkish relations. He has, along with his co-chair of the Caucus Congressman Whitfield, introduced a resolution condemning PKK terrorism. Congressman Wexler leads the charge in opposing the Armenian genocide resolution. Unfortunately, the Armenian American diaspora has put him on their black list because he opposed the H.Res.106. The support for Turkey is diminishing every year therefore, it is most important to make sure that Rep. Wexler has our support and is re-elected next year.
