conjunction with Intercollegiate Turkish Students Society (ITSS) ,
Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) and Azerbaijan American Council
(AAC) will present a seminar on the Khojaly massacre. The event will
take place on Saturday, February 23 at 6 PM at the Turkish Center in
New York City.
In 1992, Armenian troops attacked the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly,
brutally killing hundreds of men, women and children in a barbarous
and terrifying display of modern day atrocity. This crime against
humanity was committed to further a specific goal of the Armenian
military – to set the stage for the widespread occupation of
Azerbaijan and the continued genocide of Azerbaijanis in their own
territories by Armenian forces. Today, the facts are undeniable: 16%
of Azerbaijan is still occupied by Armenian forces and almost one
million Azerbaijanis still live as refugees in their own country.
The purpose of the evening is to gather together Azerbaijani-American
and Turkish-American youth who want to learn more about how their
respective homelands have been negatively effected by unwarranted
Armenian accusations and aggression. The goal is to create a
camaraderie and unity among the students so that they can develop
into a cohesive group with one voice and a common objective.
Seminar will be in English there will also be an introduction to
USAzeris Network.
WHEN: Saturday, February 23rd, 6 PM
