Ankara sent its negotiation position paper on the chapter on education and culture back in May 2006, but the EU was unable to move to open any further chapters due to French objections, supported by Greece and Greek Cyprus."

"Malaysiaâs Foreign Policy Strategy and Turkey
By Abdul Rahman Adam
National University of Malaysia, Bangi
(A paper presented at 1st International Turkish Asian Congress on 25-27 May 2006 in Istanbul.)
Introduction
In his address to the âThe Conference of Malaysian Heads of Missionâ in July, 2004 Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi stressed that âThe thrust and purpose of Malaysiaâs foreign policy has always been, and will continue to be, the protection and promotion of national interest. Malaysia has no ideology to export and it has no secret agenda to carry out anywhere in the world. We will, however, work to promote the establishment of a regional and international environment that is stable and peaceful.â[1] In essence, Malaysia must strive to continue maintaining an independent and non aligned foreign policy in order to be able to exercise flexibility in safeguarding the national interest."

TransnistriaThe Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has begun talks with its internationally recognized neighbor on re-unification. "Turkish army: weâll leave once a fair settlement is found
By Simon Bahceli
THE TURKISH army will withdraw from Cyprus if a solution to the Cyprus problem is found, the head of the Turkish armed forces indicated yesterday.

As if to drum the message home, Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat echoed Buyukanitâs statement, saying that the Turkish army had provided security for the Turkish Cypriot people over the last three decades, and would continue to do so âuntil a fair and lasting settlement of the Cyprus problem has been foundâ."
