Değerli yazışma arkadaşlarım,
Bildiğiniz gibi, Türkçe yazarken Türkçe harfler kullanıyorum. Düşüncelerimi de düzgün bir dille iletmeye çalışıyorum. Genelde, ‘Yahoo!’ üzerinden iletişim sağladığımdan, kimi alıcılar yazı bozukluğundan yakınarak, 5-6 tane Türkçe harfleri kullanmaktan kaçınmamı öneriyorlar.
Böyle bir öneriye uymam söz konusu olamaz. Düzgün dil kullanılmasına özen gösteren bir Türkçe tutkununun bu tür geçici, tutarsız ve edilgen bir yaklaşım sergilemesi olası değil. Bilgisayar çıktı da mertlik mi bozuldu?.. Teknolojinin esiri olacağımıza, neden onun bizlerle uyum içinde çalışmasını sağlayamıyoruz? Biraz da yakınanların çaba göstermesi gerekiyor…
‘Hotmail’ ve ‘Gmail’ ile yazılarda bir bozukluk yaşanmıyor(muş). Türkçe yazışma yapanları o aracılara kaydırmak işin kolayına kaçmaktır. Sayısı 5-6’yı geçmeyen Türkçe harflerin ‘Yahoo!’ tarafından da tanınması mümkün değil mi? Elbette mümkün. Ama sanki amaçları Türkçe harfleri ve sonunda Türkçeyi unutturmakmış gibi davranıyor, Yahoo ilgilileri. Kendim de dâhil pek çoğumuz bu konuda bu şirketle sürekli yazışma içindeyiz, ama anlaşılan bu yeterli değil. Daha çok başvuru yapmak gerekiyor. Yazışmak isteyen olabilir düşüncesiyle onların e-posta adreslerini ve bir örnek olsun diye yazışmalarımızdan birini aşağıda ekliyorum.
Özellikle Türkçe klavye kullanmayanlara öneri: Lütfen size gelen Türkçe iletileri düzgün almak istiyorsanız Türkçe klavye kullanın ve bilgisayarınızı Türkçe alış-veriş konumuna ayarlatın. Bütün suçu göndericiye yüklemeyin. Hatırlatmakta yarar var: Bozuk çıkan yazılar üzerinde farenin sağından ‘Kodlama’ sekmesiyle ulaştığımız ‘Türkçe (Windows), Türkçe (ISO), Unicode (UTF-8)’ seçeneklerine sol tıklamakla muradımıza erebiliriz. Öte yandan, yazılım bozukluklarını www.turkcekarakter.com aracılığıyla da düzeltmek mümkündür.

By the way, when will ‘Yahoo!’ recognize a few of Turkish letters such as, 'ş' an 's' with a hook at the bottom to give the sound of 'sh', like the 's' at the end of my family name?
The others are: 'Çç, Ğğ, İı, Öö, Üü'. That’s all...
The users of Yahoo! are really upset with this problem. I must inform you that hundreds of thousands Turkish users are getting organized to quit using the ‘Yahoo!’ services. The other companies are recognizing the Turkish letter characters for some time. Please give a serious attention to this fact. Thank you in advance for your efforts to this vital issue as well...

Thank you for your feed back and information about my name. We are constantly improving Yahoo! Groups to meet the needs of our users. I am really sorry, the current version of Yahoo! Groups does not support using the Turkish characters. As of the moment, we do not have an estimated date as to when or if it will be available. Unfortunately, as of this time, the only way to use the Turkish language is having a group register as a Turkish Group.
