A Modern Take on Lace

"A Modern Take on Lace
By Ezgi Basaran
Word Count: 766

Istanbul

Turkish lace, a colorfully elaborate form of needlework, dates back to the 12th century and is still prominent in traditional Turkish attire. But the decorations, which originated in Anatolia, are also showing up in modern fashions as Turkish designers add touches of the needlework to the latest styles. A weekend visit to Istanbul -- with its bustling markets and trendy boutiques -- offers plenty of opportunities to buy Turkish lace either in its traditional or more contemporary forms."

Kamil Pasha » Creationism Spreads in Turkey

"Creationism Spreads in Turkey
Posted on March 14th, 2008 by Jenny White

In line with my previous posts about problems with the quality of scholarship and education, a recent article has drawn attention to the spread of creationism in Turkey’s schools and universities. This is a religious idea, not science"
