On February 13, Frank Urbancic, deputy counterterrorism coordinator at the State Department, told CNN-Turk, 'The PKK [Kurdistan Workers Party] is like the mafia all over Europe.' He added that in addition to its terrorist presence in Europe, the PKK has an 'octopus-like structure carrying out criminal activity, including drug and people smuggling' to raise funds, as well as 'fronts that provide cover to the organization's criminal and terror activities.'"

ISTANBUL, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Shares in Turkey's Park Elektrik were suspended from trade on Thursday after a report its owner planned a partnership with RWE, while shares in Ceytas , part of the same group, soared 10 percent.
The stock exchange said it suspended trading in the shares before the market opened and had asked Park Elektrik for an explanation after the press report.
Business daily Referans reported on Thursday that German utility RWE had signed a letter of intent with unlisted conglomerate Ciner Group to become its partner in the Turkish energy industry by acquiring shares in its energy businesses."

I knew in advance that the Kosovo parliament will convene for a declaration of independence during an emergency session. So I had to turn on the TV."
