"Erdogan Says Turkey Won't Accept Closure of Justice Party

March 21 (Bloomberg) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the nation won't accept the closure of his Justice and Development Party, elected in a landslide in July.

Attempts by prosecutors to shut down Justice and ban Erdogan from politics for undermining secularism ```can't be reconciled with the law or the conscience of the nation,'' Erdogan told regional chiefs of the party at a meeting in Ankara today."

The chief prosecutor of Turkey's High Court of Appeals recently recommended to the country's Constitutional Court that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) be permanently banned. Only last July, the AKP was overwhelmingly re-elected in free and fair elections to lead the government. The chief prosecutor also formally recommended that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Abdullah Gul, and 69 other leading politicians be banned from politics for five years."

Dogu Perincek, the leader of the Workers' Party, senior journalist Ilhan Selcuk and Kemal Alemdaroglu, the former rector of Istanbul University, are in detention and are to appear before a public prosecutor, the Anatolia news agency said."

Istanbul. Mayis Alizade. Turkish Women Lobby (TUKAL) has held a symposium on “Armenian Issue: truths and lies” , reports APA Bureau in Turkey.

Yusuf Halaçoğlu, head of the Turkish Historical Society (TTK), showed the original edition and copy of the order by Talat Pasha to squash falsification by Armenians.
He said a plot was drafted on the eve of the World War I to divide the Ottoman Empire. According to him, Russia and the West then planned to use Armenians in Anatolia to implement the plot. He said 23 revolts by Armenians were not accidental during 1914-15."
